Where is the fuse on a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia brake light? ›

In the Cascadias the fuse panel is located behind the glove box. You will need a T25 Torx driver to remove the glove box. Once removed, the top of the glove box will have a diagram on it with the fuse locations and amperages. Find the one that says Tail light, park lamps, or running lights and remove it.

Engine fuse boxes are typically situated near the battery. In this vehicle, the battery is on the driver's side, and there is a fuse box right above it with a black plastic cover to protect the fuses. On the passenger side, there is also a battery, and the fuse box is located nearby.

Chassis module: Freightliner Cascadia models often have a chassis module that controls various electrical functions, including lighting. The chassis module is usually located inside the cab, beneath the dashboard or behind a kick panel.

The filament must be continuous from one terminal to the other for current to flow. If the filament is broken through, there's melting visible, or there are black or brown burn marks inside or on the outer portion of the fuse, it's an indication the fuse is blown. Use a circuit tester/test light or DVOM.

Replacing a fuse is a relatively easy, do-it-yourself home task that you can tackle with a little information and some electrical home safety savvy. If your home has a fuse box, the best advice is to plan ahead and become familiar with the electrical panel and with the types of fuses it requires.

That white/black wire goes from the brake light switch to the under-dash fuse box and just passes through. This could be corrosion issues or a failed under-dash fuse box assembly. That fuse in the under-hood fuse box is the only fuse for the brake lamps.

The main PDM is located under the hood on the driver's side above the fender.

A 12V power source, which is protected by a fuse, sits on one side of this switch. The other side is where the power gets sent out to the brake lights after you press down on the brake pedal, which triggers the circuit to close and the brake light bulbs to illuminate.

There are four main fuse types found in vehicles today: Micro or standard fuse taps, Mini, low-profile mini, and ATO fuses. These fuses all look physically different, and simply taking the fuse out, showing its teeth, is plenty to be able to tell what type it is. This can be done easily with a set of pliers.

The best place to install a fuse in a grounded power system is on the ungrounded conductor path to the load. That way, when the fuse blows there will only be the grounded (safe) conductor still connected to the load, making it safer for people to be around.
